Learning about the history of the properties we work with is always an interesting part of the job, this 18th century Grade 2 listed building is no exception. Not only does it incorporate an even earlier 17th century cottage constructed using some reused stone from the adjacent church, it also has links to the more recent World War 2 when it served as a Land Army hostel. Now the property has been reconfigured with new purpose, the historic courtyard has been carefully infilled to create a new modern kitchen, and the adjacent annexe now houses a smart new home gym and carport. A substantial overhaul of the building services and fabric were needed and included an insulated limecrete floor, wall insulation, heritage double glazing, new heating systems with air source heat pumps and electric car charging to bring it in line with modern day requirements.

“Norfolk Pro Build have recently completed the substantial renovation and extension of a listed building for one of our projects. I’m pleased to say that the team worked with the utmost professionalism, accommodation and attention to detail. Throughout the whole project it felt like NPB were working with us, the client and other consultants towards the same goal, tackling the projects more complex elements with a calm and proactive attitude. Their close-knit team were consistent from start to finish and attending site was always a pleasure. The site manager Shaun provided a calm and well organised presence throughout the project, communicating well and taking the time to understand the key issues. It was a pleasure to work with the whole team.”
